Contracts
As an employer, the family must issue written "contract of employment" within two months of commencement of employment. This should include:
  • Names of employer and employee
  • The date when employment began.
  • Salary and intervals when paid e.g. weekly, monthly.
  • Hours of work (if flexible, then the maximum hours to be worked in any one week).
  • Overtime requirements and method of payment e.g. additional pay or time off in lieu.
  • Holiday entitlement.
  • Sickness entitlement.
  • Pension arrangements, if any.
  • Length of notice required on both sides to terminate the contract.
  • Title of the job.
  • Place of work.
  • Details of discipline and grievance procedures.
